Community Carpool
Three people from the same tower book three separate cabs to the airport within an hour of each other. It happens in most societies, most weeks, simply because nobody knew. A ride request is a way to check before you book.
Rides are one of the five request types in Ask Your Community. Everyone involved is a verified resident of your own society.
How it works
- Post a ride request. Where you are starting, where you are going, when you are leaving, and how many seats you need. If it is a regular trip, say so.
- Neighbours respond. Someone either has a ride with seats free, or would like to join yours. A response can say how many seats are available.
- You accept one. The response appears in My Activity, and you decide.
- You agree a pickup point. A gate or lobby, at a time that suits both. Contact details are shared only if both of you opt in.
What LendNest does not do
Worth being plain about this, because a ride request looks superficially like a booking and it is not one.
- LendNest does not book taxis or cabs.
- LendNest does not employ, supply or vet drivers.
- LendNest does not process payments. Cost sharing is settled between residents.
- LendNest does not guarantee that anyone will respond, or that a ride will happen.
- LendNest does not track vehicles or journeys.
What it does is narrower: it lets people who already live in the same community find each other before they each book separately.
Sharing a ride sensibly
- Agree the pickup point, the time and how the cost will be split before the day.
- Meet at a common area such as the gate or lobby rather than at a flat.
- Say early if your plans change, since someone may have skipped booking their own cab.
- Use the optional participant preference if it matters to you. It is a matching preference and nothing more.
Common questions
- How does community carpooling work on LendNest?
- A resident posts a ride request with the route, the date and time they are leaving, and how many seats they need. Verified neighbours in the same community can respond either to say they have a ride with seats available, or to ask to join. The person who posted reviews the responses and accepts one.
- Can I ask for a ride?
- Yes. Post a ride request with where you are starting from, where you are going, and when you need to leave. You can also say if it is a regular trip, such as a daily commute, and add a return time.
- Can I offer a ride I am already taking?
- Yes. If a neighbour has posted a ride request and you are making the same trip, you can respond to say you have a ride and how many seats are free.
- Can I share a ride with residents I have not met?
- Everyone taking part is a verified member of your own residential community. You will see the other person's first name before you decide, and you choose whether to accept. Nobody outside your community can see or join.
- Can I say who I am comfortable travelling with?
- A ride request can carry an optional participant preference. It is a matching preference only — it never changes who can see the request, and it is not shown in the community feed. Leave it unset if it does not matter to you.
- When are contact details shared?
- Only after a response has been accepted, and only if the person chooses to share their number. If they do not, you can still agree the pickup point and time on the request itself.
- Is LendNest a taxi service?
- No. LendNest does not book cabs, does not employ or supply drivers, does not process payments and does not guarantee that a ride will be arranged. It is a way for people who already live in the same community to find each other and coordinate. Any cost sharing is settled directly between the residents involved.
