Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about borrowing, lending, privacy, and neighbor handoffs on LendNest.

What is LendNest and how is it different from open classifieds?

LendNest is a neighborhood marketplace designed specifically for verified residential communities. Unlike open classified websites where anyone can post and transactions often involve random strangers visiting your home, LendNest restricts access to verified residents, keeps home addresses private, and routes all handoffs through safe common areas.

Who is eligible to use LendNest?

Anyone can browse public city-wide listings. To access community-specific listings, borrow items, list gear, or express interest in giveaways, you must register an account and complete residential community verification.

How does Community Verification work?

When you join your residential building or society on LendNest, your residency request is reviewed by an active community administrator. Verification records are strictly private and are never visible to other neighbors or public visitors.

Is my exact residential flat or apartment number publicly visible?

No. LendNest enforces a strict privacy standard. Your flat number, tower name, personal phone number, and private proof documents are never shown on public pages. Pickup instructions are shared privately only after an exchange request is confirmed.

Where do item pickups and handoffs take place?

All exchanges take place in designated safe common areas within your residential community — such as the building lobby, clubhouse reception desk, or main security gate.

How much does it cost to borrow or give away items?

Give Away listings are always 100% free to receive. For borrow listings, owners set reasonable daily rental rates (typically ₹150–₹500/day) and optional security deposits. There are no surprise hidden fees.

What is the maximum value of items allowed on LendNest?

To keep community sharing safe and low-risk, all listings on LendNest are capped at a maximum item valuation of ₹10,000. Commercial equipment, expensive jewelry, and industrial machinery are prohibited.

What happens if a borrowed item is damaged or returned late?

Borrowers are responsible for treating items with care and returning them on time in clean condition. If accidental damage occurs, participants should communicate immediately to reach an amicable agreement. If a disagreement cannot be resolved, users can report the incident to LendNest support.

Are giveaway items guaranteed to be in working condition?

Giveaway items are offered on an 'as-is' basis by neighbors. While owners are required to accurately disclose condition ratings (Brand New, Like New, Good, Fair), LendNest does not provide an independent warranty on pre-loved items.
